Scheduling Windows Maintenance
Posted by CJ at 2:45 pm
Your personal computer needs care and attention. Aside from regular
dusting off, one of the most important things you need to do is to make
sure the computer's system receives proper cleaning and maintenance as
well.
Because our daily schedules are already filled with thousands of things
to do, from household upkeep to work tasks, we often disregard the
responsibility to be good to our computers and laptops. The good news
is - there are actually built-in programs and tools to help you do
these important tasks without having to constantly run them yourself.
You can set up the system to automatically update and run maintenance
tasks to ensure your PC gets the proper attention it requires.
Disk Cleanup
Making sure that your hard drive has adequate space for your files will
help keep your PC running smoothly. You can use Disk Cleanup to remove
unnecessary files that's taking up valuable disc space. Follow these
instructions for Windows 7 and Vista.
* Click on Start and type "task scheduler" on the text box.
* Click on Action on the Task Scheduler window and select Create
Basic Task.
* A wizard will come up and help you create the task. You have
control on details like how often you want it to run and even what
day and time of the week it needs to be scheduled.
* In the action portion of the wizard, choose "Start a program".
* Type cleanmgr.exe in the program field.
* A summary of the settings you chose will be displayed. Double check
everything before clicking Finish.
Make sure to schedule the cleanup at a time when the computer will be
in use. The Disk Cleanup feature will pop up at the specified time and
date and all you have to do is choose the particular drive you want
cleaned.
Automated Backup
Another great maintenance task you can do is regular backups of your
computer's files. In Windows 7, the Backup and Restore feature is
already at par with other popular third party backup applications.
* Click on Computer and right click on a drive.
* Click on Properties.
* Select the Tools tab and click the Back up now button.
* Click the Set up backup link in the next window.
* Choose the best location to save the files. It is recommended to
use an external hard drive. Click on Next.
* Follow the next instructions of the wizard.
* When you get to the "Review your backup settings" page, you can see
the set schedule of the backup.
* You can customize how often and what day and time of the week you
want the system to run backup by clicking on the "Change schedule"
link.

Speed Up Your PC Operating System
Posted by admin at 8:40 pm
The release of Windows 7 was huge and widely anticipated all over the
world. Most feedbacks from this operating system were incomparable to
the early Windows OS. Typical comments include better performance,
unique graphic display, faster-running application programs and a
user-friendly interface. Despite the major improvement, this OS is
unfortunately still susceptible to issues. But Microsoft also developed
a pre-installed program to help troubleshoot issues - the Performance
Troubleshooter application.
If the computer runs slower than usual, then try to run the Performance
Troubleshooter program. The application is new and it will optimize
your computer speed to go back in line. To run the software, follow
these steps.
* Click on Start > Go to Control Panel > Type Troubleshooter in the
search box > Click Check Performance Issues under System and
Security.
Removing unused programs is another effective way of optimizing Windows
7. You can also reduce the load from your hard drive to add more disc
space. Lessening start-up programs will make your computer load quickly
and decrease the CPU usage. There are two ways to do this, the first
method is to double-click the icon of the application in the system
tray. Go to settings and turn-off "Run the software at startup". The
second method can be done using msconfig.
* Click on Start > Type msconfig at the Search box > Go to the
Startup tab in the System Configuration Utility window.
* Remove the check from the box of the programs that you don't want
to load during start-up. Click the Apply button and restart the
computer.
Note: Ensure that you uncheck only programs that are not essential
parts of the Windows system. Some of the programs you can safely
uncheck are Yahoo Messenger (YM) and Windows Messenger.
You can also disable the visual effects as this is rarely needed. As a
result, the computer will have better performance but only minimal or
standard display appearance. Follow these steps to adjust the settings.
* Click on Start > Go to Control Panel > Type Performance Information
and tools > Click Performance Information and Tools in the results
> Click Adjust visual effects
* If got prompted by a color blue and yellow shield icon, then type
in your administrator password.
* Go to the Visual Effects tab > Click Adjust for best performance >
Click OK button.
* You can also choose "Let Windows choose what's best for my
computer" button and Windows will automatically adjust the settings
according to the capacity of your computer.
One of the most effective ways to optimize the performance of any
computer is to clean its registry. Use a trusted and automated registry
cleaner to perform a scan. This software will be able to fix any
corrupted files and delete unnecessary keys, resulting to a better
performing system.

Task Manager Vs. Process Explorer
Posted by CJ at 12:00 am
Task Manager is a very helpful utility tool built inside Windows
operating systems. This tool helps users see and identify the programs
and services currently running in their systems. Being able to
understand the processes running inside your computer is a big step in
identifying system issues as well as virus and spyware infections.
There are different ways to open the Task Manager, one of the simplest
shortcuts that people do is pressing CTRL + ALT +DEL. You can also do a
right-click on the task bar and click on Task Manager. These actions
will automatically take you to the Processes tab, displaying the
process name as well as how much memory it is using. You can delete or
end the process simply by clicking on the End Process button on the
lower part of the window. This is basically a generic list of the
processes running in your computer. If you really want to get down and
dirty and examine all the details, the Windows Task Manager will fall
short of your expectations.
This is when Process Explorer comes in. So what is Process Explorer
anyway? As suggested by its name, this tool helps you better explore
all the processes running in the system. Unfortunately though, this
program doesn't come pre-installed on Windows systems, but the good
news is - it is downloadable for free in a lot of websites. There are
actually a number of different tools like this but Process Explorer is
one of the most widely used.
Process Explorer may look alien at first but don't be intimated. Here
are some of the basic things you need to know. The left part of the
window shows all the processes running in your system and the right
pane will show useful information such as description, company name,
path and command line. The path line comes in handy when you want to
find out the exact location of the process.
You can also customize the view by adding or removing some of the
things you deem necessary. To identify which processes are harmful to
your computer, you need to do a little bit of digging. Most of the
time, suspicious processes come from unknown company names and also
take up a lot of space on your hard disk. To end a process, just
right-click on the process name and choose Kill Process or Kill Process
Tree. Keep in mind however, that there are several processes that are
essential for the computer system to work.
These two tools are a big help in identifying or clearing unneeded
things running in the background of your system. Effectively clearing
out unnecessary processes will help you steer clear of virus infections
and also increase your hard disk space.

Enter your search keyword(s) and the keyword "zorgium" into the search input field of

Heads up: There's an ongoing spamdexing of Google searchbot algorithms. Sites that are 'copies of copies' and cloaked sites which include Zorgium keywords presented to search engine crawlers yet garbage content presented to human visitors were hosted on thousands of IP addresses and domains registered immediately after the introduction of Zorgium in November of 2009. The Hostgator/'The Planet'/Softlayer datacenters in Texas seem to be the epicenter of this activity in conjunction with anonymously registered domains of various TLD's but primarily .info domains at Godaddy which, in our opinion, has some sort of connection to the domains of goldmint.in and goldmint.org. Google has begun to notice this and has begun to lower the ranking of these sites and put our original sites back on top of the search rankings. These actions, as far as we can tell, negatively impact the use of the keyword 'zorgium' as a search term and provided little benefit, if any, to the perpetrators.
ZORGIUM note to content providers: If you don't want your page to appear in Zorgium's search abstraction then put an exclusion for "Zorgium" in your web server's robots.txt file.
